our history
Our late founder, Bruce Axelson, started in the auto industry as a young man and never looked back. He truly loved it–the customers, the staff, the vehicles, everything.
His first dealership was Cheyenne Chev Olds in Melfort, Saskatchewan in 1974. In 1992, he was able to purchase a second dealership, known today as Capital GMC Buick Cadillac. This purchase was the stepping stone to developing the Capital/Cornerstone Automotive Group with stores across Western Canada and expanding into the USA.
Since 1992, the Capital Automotive Group has acquired several dealers spanning several brands–Ford, GMC, Buick, Lincoln, Cadillac, Chrysler, Dodge Chevrolet, Jeep, Ram, Mercedes-Benz, and more in 5 cities across North America.

Legacy lIVES ON
Bruce’s legacy lives on as the Axelson family embraces the values that make up the foundation of the Capital Automotive Group.
